Half Day

Hi there! Today I decided to do something a little different with the blog.

Because it's my blog, and I can do what I want.
And you can not read it if you so desire.
But first.

I got the upper cabinets fully painted.

I need to do that window but some other things need to be done before I can get to it.. Like the sink needs to come out. I'm going to paint the trim around the window the same Grey Silt color that's inside the cabinets.

The lower cabinets are all the lighter color. So here's a good example of what the color is around the outside of the upper cabinets.

Also remember how I said those slits would be gone? Tada! It's like they were never there.

The cabinets on either side of the sink aren't done yet.. mainly because Jeffery has to do some customizing in them first.. and also because after a bunch of sanding and 6 coats of primer they're still greasy and gross.. So more sanding and cleaning and primer must be done on them.

They dried for a couple days and then.. get this... I got some of my stuff out of the totes.

I painted the wall behind and underneath where the microwave was going while Jeffery was working so he could install the microwave that night. We ended up changing our minds on the wall color, and went for lighter than what we originally had swatched.

Jeffery's preparing to install the microwave. We love this wall color.

Out of the box view of our microwave.

In the midst of the install, and another look at the wall color.

I promise I do more than stand around and take pictures.. I did hold the microwave and help feed the wire through.. I swear!

The microwave really ties the room together. I shoved the stove back over to the outlet to use it for breakfast this morning. (And maybe to see what it looked like together.)

Now for the second part of this blog post.. I just want to talk about my morning a little bit.
Because I'm so interesting.

I woke up at 6:30 to my husband's alarm clock, and then a plea for cuddles. (this happens every work morning.)

Then the alarm went off twice more because he likes to hit snooze and wake me up every 9 minutes until he feels like getting out of bed.

Then he gets dressed as if he's holding Thor's hammer, which keeps me awake until he walks out the door.

This morning I had doggy momma duties when one of the dogs, (Julie) left all of their breakfast (read: vomited) in four different spots on my floor. So that meant I was out of bed, and I needed to see to clean up so contacts went in, and when contacts go in that means I'm up for the rest of the day.

Okay no more wall of text.

I made breakfast.

I went with peach, sugarless tea. It's delicious.

And I made myself an omelette with cheese and red pepper.. which looks like this.. \/

I'm using the mug I got on our honeymoon.

We went grocery shopping yesterday so I started preparing this week's meals.

I can only find as small as packages with 3 chicken breasts, obviously I only need 2 when I make chicken so the 3rd gets cooked up for lunches. Salt, pepper and garlic. (this combination is pretty much a staple in my life.. I love garlic like I love ice cream.. which admittedly I am not allowing myself to eat anymore.)

Next I prepared one of my husband's favorite meals. Red Pork. I usually do this as a stir fry. It marinates for a couple days in the sauce first.

Then I finished my tea before it cooled off.. (because I am not my mother, who only ever ends up drinking it cold) and took a shower.

The dogs and I spent some time outside, and I took the time to take a gratuitous selfie.

I have yet to recolor my hair... it needs to be done.

Hubby got out of his meeting at work and came home for lunch.. he had microwaved ramen and potstickers.. because he's so healthy all the time. (And probably because he really really wanted to try the microwave he installed.)

I had a delicious salad. (Seriously I really love salad.)

Lettuce, cucumber, mushrooms, black olives, tomatoes, red peppers, shredded colby jack cheese, and a drizzle of vidalia onion dressing, which I'm running out of.. which is a good thing because I consume way too much sugar when I eat it.. and I should probably just make myself some homemade vinaigrette, but I've digressed.

I also had an apple... he didn't beg for the chicken.. but he always begs for apples..  which I find hilarious because he doesn't even like apples.

And it's a beautiful day out so I'm saving money by turning off the central air and opening all the windows. Which the dogs love.

The sink is coming out tonight.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. A few thoughts, 1. Love seeing your dishes in the cupboard and other little things that look familiar. ;) 2. The kitchen is looking awesome. 3. My tea is still cold even though my new microwave beeps till you open the door. When you come home I'll pick up more Vidallia onion dressing.

    1. Yes it sure is! And the first three are two deep! We got them on sale fairly cheaply so we grind them up to make peanut butter for the dogs

  3. Looking great. About the paint: I used to do this for a living. Whenever a homeowner would pick a color they liked, I'd tell them to move their finger four spaces up the swatch board to four shades lighter. If you do that, you'll usually get the effect you're really looking for.
