Demolition

Hi There!

So we haven’t taken the counters off yet.. however, progress on the kitchen is moving right along.

We got the cupboards above the stove pulled out. Now all we need to do is add three inches of wood to each side to make the gap 30″ (The size of over the range microwaves)

Next Jeffery took the saws-all to the kitchen peninsula to open up the kitchen a lot more.

Arthas is modeling the new found space. It definitely gives the room a bigger feel to it, however now we have lost some much needed counter space, so we remedied that by going full hog on the cabinets where the microwave was.
Jeffery pulled the microwave out and was going to have me clean it but when I saw what had accumulated around the microwave I made him throw it outside into the trash because there was no way, NO WAY, I was going to touch that thing with a ten-foot pole. He threw on some gloves and tossed it, I did not take a picture because I am sparing you the torture but if you really must know it looked like ear wax that had sprouted fur all over the microwave.

Anyway he pulled the counter top off of this cabinet so that he could get into the microwave cabinet.

Sans microwave.

Mostly done. Do you see the fantastic wiring job going on?

So we headed to Lowe’s  to pick up the stuff we needed.

While we were there we unexpectedly found microwaves on clearance, so we picked one up for a fantastic price. (Especially after our 10% military discount.)

After a quick debate over if black or stainless was the better option, (which I won and then posted on Facebook for opinions on as well) we went with the stainless. My favorite fashionable female (yay alliteration) pointed out that it would look really classy. (That was A. We also cut out the odd triangle shape that the wooden pillar was attached to…

And Jeffery got a picture of me cleaning up his horrible drywall mess.

We purchased cold chisels while at Lowe’s so the brick will be coming down super soon. Like probably late tonight when we should be sleeping.

Oh and this is how I’m blocking the fridge off from the dogs.. who love to raid the fridge for food. (We did have a child lock on our fridge at the other place but that didn’t stop them… I may just turn it into a bank vault instead. :P )
