What's Next?

A few years ago I wrote a post entitled, "Before and After" which told the story of how we accidentally flipped a house. Well, we did it again.  For those who don't know, Jeffery and I are selling our house, in fact it is under contract right now as I write about it. We had several offers to choose from, wrote down several points on each offer, and went with the one we felt would work best for our family.  But why? Why are we selling this home we've poured so much time and money into? Well, we've decided to change the direction our lives were headed. We are opting for a simpler life. We simply have too much house, and not enough time. I want to spend more time with my kids, and less time tidying. Jeffery, he wants to start his own business and be able to take more time off to travel and be with family. And wouldn't you know it, he's going to start a carpentry business. In the meantime, we won't be able to afford this house. The current real estate mark...

Living Room

Have you ever thought to yourself, "We should paint the ceilings in this house blue?" Of course you haven't, only crazy people do things like that.  We rented some scaffolding and Jeffery painted the ceiling, replaced the crappy light fixtures, and painted the top of the walls. For some reason we put the new fan up before we were done moving the scaffolding around, so me wheeling him across the floor was an exercise in trust. Let's talk about the paint for a second. I found a swatch of Valspar (our paint of choice) online that I just loved, we brought it into Lowe's, and of course we couldn't find it. We looked through all the greens they had to offer and none of them came close to what I had originally wanted. So we asked the guy at the paint desk, he and another woman managed to find the color in their computer. "Okay, we'll come back when it's done being mixed." As we're walking Jeffery told me...

Quarantine Workouts

I know most of you probably have no interest in fitness, but my blog my rules. That said, if you go to the menu option at the top of the page, you can filter posts to what you want to see. Recently, I purchased myself a home gym. The Y I go to only has one traditional squat rack and it's constantly in use, so I wanted a personal spot. My order was already in and being processed when gyms across the US shut down, and I am thankful I got the majority of what I'd like to have before everything sold out. Fitness equipment is being hoarded like toilet paper. You can find stuff for sale on Facebook or Craigslist but you'll be paying double the new price. I was able to follow my regular training without any issues, hit my goal of squatting my body weight, and then decided to switch things up. I've been playing around with movements I can do with the equipment I have. But first my 135lb squat. Okay, I was training heavy three days a week on an every other d...

Dining Room

Hello, welcome back. It's been a while since I've posted but don't worry we're keeping busy. We did some stuff around the yard, chopping down trees, yanking out rose bushes, pressure washing the driveway, oh and digging up and fixing the leech field. I won't bore you anymore with that stuff, let's get rid of some more blue paint. Take a look at the ceiling where Jeffery swatched white paint for laughs.  There we go, an appropriate ceiling color for the modern family. Primer on the walls ready to accept the boldest paint choice in the house so far. Spot Calvin and Henry being super helpful throughout this post. Calvin says, "Wow that's really red." This paint color is Valspar "In the Red." Well no turning back now.  You might be thinking, "But Em, there's still blue paint on that wall, it's not even covered with primer." Yes you're rig...
