Kitchen

Hi There!
Let us remind ourselves what this looked like 24 hours ago.

Last night while we were laying around reading Jeffery mentioned that he wanted to start working on the house, but he wasn’t sure he had any motivation. So I bribed him with ice cream.

We started by me cleaning the dishes, by hand, I might add (I’m pretty sure my own personal torture device would include hand washing dishes.) and cleaning off the counters. Jeffery pulled out the awful wooden pillar and started taking cabinet doors off.

He pulled the vent out from above the stove, which required flipping the electricity to it off. He went through a bunch of switches and for some reason the vent is on the same circuit as the furnace room. It seems to me that circuits are never laid out logically. (he also tried to break the brick with a hammer but they wouldn’t budge.. so he said he’ll have to cold chisel that out probably.)

We also found out that the vent doesn’t vent to anywhere. So we’re going to put a microwave/vent combo above the stove and change the size of these cabinets to fit it in.

We stood around for a while trying to figure out what to do here by the window. Then he grabbed the saws-all and went to town. I guess we’ll figure out how to make the cabinets look good later.

My current counter top space.

I finished up with the cabinet doors while he was at work today.

All the cabinets were lined with sticky paper so I pulled all of that up… I found some nasties to clean.

Are you kidding me?!

Had to get a good before picture for the countertop.

How they have the current microwave wired in… so professional.

Sink before.
I’m sure there will be a post tomorrow with the kitchen lacking counters. Until then,
Thanks for stopping by!

(P.S. Lowes will be delivering our dishwasher on Monday. We got it for a good deal. Originally $719 we purchased it for $498.)
