Trimmed

Welcome back! Let me start by saying that I took these pictures a long time ago. This got finished up the day I went into the hospital for an induction. It's not that I don't have time to write the blog, it's just that I'd rather play with Calvin. No hard feelings. Without further ado, here's the "finished" product. Ignore that we haven't quite decided what to do about tile above the counter. Here's just a few pictures. Our work space. (Jeffery's slippers are on his desk because I forgot to toss them back on the floor after vacuuming for this image.) A view over to the left, you can see our white wall and the futon (also baby). You may be thinking, oh hey it's so nice that you ran the stereo wiring behind the trim so it isn't showing, but you would be fooling yourself. There's no wiring there yet. Our audio receiver died last year and it would take an act of God to get Jeffery to finally buy a new one. It...

Calvin's Nursery

Hi there! Welcome back! The blog has its own domain name - blog.niles.space (If you have the blog bookmarked at the other link, not to fear, it will continue to redirect you to the proper place.) When you last left we were just finishing up the basement and about to do trim. Unfortunately our plan to paint trim in the garage hasn't happened yet because the car was parked in the garage and immovable. (starter died) The car has been fixed since and the trim is just sitting there waiting for us to do over the next couple days, so the finished product will be available for viewing shortly. So I've been working on a little project of my own.  I did most of the work in here myself, and I think it came out pretty nicely. Let's start at the beginning. I really really couldn't stand the closet. I forgot to grab a picture of the ceiling, but you know how things start off white and then a smoker lives there for 15 years and everything turns brown and yellow? That was ...

Tada!

Hi there. Sorry I kind of skipped right over finishing up the drywall, you'll have to forgive me. I tried not to go inhale a bunch of drywall dust. I'm starting you out with primed walls and ceiling paint finished, We got the can lights in place and it really brightened up the room. This also meant we could get rid of the hot work lights. These are the two lights over the projector area. Once we primed we were going to paint, but we decided we'd put the sub-floor down while the ceiling paint cured. This is more of that dry core, like we used for the sewing room. Jeffery's hammering them together to keep them nice and tight. This is wet bar wall, I wanted to get some photos of before the paint, since I didn't get any of the finished drywall before the primer. You can also see down here what I did while Jeffery did all the hard work. I used a rolling chair to bring drycore in from the garage for him. Drycore all laid down, l...
