Finished Bathroom

Hi there and welcome back to our home.
It's been a long time, silly Emily just remembered I never wrote up this last blog post about the bathroom. So without further ado, here is where we left off.

The whole bathroom was gutted included subfloor. Jeffery replaced the subfloor, reinsulated, added new drywall and, we had just finished installing the shower.
Here you see that we have primed the walls. The drywall was green, and this primer, although it looks white in this lighting, was tinted green.

In this picture the green tint is much more visible.

Now to paint. Jeffery cut in where I couldn't reach and rolled paint up near the ceilings, and then I rolled paint behind him at more Emily appropriate heights.

We went for a nice Earthy green.

We may or may not have started running out of paint and ended up adding water to the can to finish behind where the sink would be and above the doorway. You can't even tell. It was annoying at the time though.

Paint dried and the paper is off the floor.

Once the paint was fully dry, we screwed the outlet plates in place. The light switch has a lot of wires behind it and not a deep enough box, so there was some shoving and the wall may have cracked, but it's all covered with trim, no big deal. The saying these days is, "Won't be noticed on walk through," referring to when we sell this house in the future. Haha.

The tub didn't fit exactly right in the space so we had a gap between the wall and bottom tile. No worries, we'll cover that up later.

We added an additional outlet above the sink so I can plug in as many hair tools as my heart desires. You can also see the tank of the toilet is back on so we can pee again.

We dragged the cabinet up the stairs and put it in place.

Sink sitting in place.

Most of our construction happens while Calvin is asleep across the hallway so I wouldn't let him drive any screws into the wall until the next day while Calvin was awake. The toilet paper holder and towel racks had to wait.

The sink faucet and drain installed, and the water hooked up and turn on. Our toothbrushes are no longer in the kitchen!

Towel racks in use, he installed this new one higher than the previous one because we had an issue with towels touching the toilet paper. Gross.

I apparently don't have an action shot, probably because this required two people, but next we got the medicine cabinet installed on the wall.

We took a break here for a bit and Calvin enjoyed a bubble bath.

The next day we painted trim out in the garage.

Crown molding.

Around the doorway was trimmed and then I painted the door frame.

Much better.

Jeffery got the rest of the trim and crown molding tacked up and then went to work on the light fixture over the sink.

You can see the door in the mirror. We're waiting to paint the door for when we do all the doors upstairs at once.

Jeffery also used silicone around the tub to give it a more finished look. The tile at the bottom definitely isn't as weird looking now. We used an almond colored silicone along the tiles to match the grout, and white silicone around the tub.

Next the holes from putting the trim up needed to be filled, and when I say it took a long time for me to get around to it, I mean it took months. I used white wood filler which matches pretty well on its own, so depending on how I feel later on I may just leave them without the planned paint.

And there you have it, our finished bathroom!

Another angle with the lights on.

And of course, what we started with.

So much better now.
