Back Splash

Hey there! Welcome back!
So... Calvin was a couple days old when we last spoke.. and he's now 8 months. But we finally got the back splash done downstairs this weekend. This is just a short blog post with a few pictures. Jeffery has a few weeks of training to get through in March and then we will be renovating the bathroom and there will be lots of content on that!

So to get started, we decided we wanted to do some under cabinet lighting. It was unnecessary with the white wall, but because we picked a dark tile, we wanted to make sure it stayed nice and bright.

Let it be known that Jeffery did all the work, and I just took pictures and entertained the little dictator.

Some sticky back LEDs.

This giant power converter makes sure that the LEDs come on at the same time as the ceiling light without a delay.

Under the higher cabinet he added a diffuser to pretty it up and create a softer glow.

Calvin got dressed for a trip to Lowe's with us. (Lowe's corporate.. it's cool if you ever want to sponsor us.. I'm literally always posting about how great your stores are.)

Seriously this outfit is just too cute.

Starting the process.

So Jeffery's amazing and the only tile cutting he had to do was around the outlets. And it didn't matter how clean they were cut because they're getting covered anyway.

These two played while this was all happening. Julie is his favorite thing on the planet right now.

Grouting taking place. We used the same grout color as the floor tiles have.

And then Jeffery got here and had to return to Lowe's to buy more grout.

Grout done.

Grout done, haze washed off, outlet covers added.

As an added bonus... here's something else we did recently.

We got the coffee table we built like 3 years ago stained so we can put a top on it.

And we stained and added hooks to this pretty board from Hobby Lobby to hang coats on downstairs, because it's apparently too much of a hassle for men to hang their coats up in a closet instead of on dining room chairs.

Thanks for stopping by!
