More Basement Shenanigans

Jeffery got frustrated and bored so he decided to take his stress out by demolishing part of the basement.

Here are some before pictures.
This is the wall where our computer's resided until he tore up the carpet.

This is the bathroom under the stairs.

This is the door to the bathroom, peeking into where the computers were.

This is the wall that the computer room and bathroom share.

This is us looking at the ridiculous plumbing from the laundry area to that bathroom.

This, for future reference is how they plumbed the upstairs bathroom.. they actually cut out parts of floor joist. It's a mess, and won't be getting fixed until we work on the upstairs bathroom. (That floor needs full replacement.)

This is under the stairs. The plumbing actually runs across the ceiling of the laundry room, down the opposite wall, under the stairs, and over to the bathroom. All fully visible, we did not have to open anything up to access all this.

Those pipes on the opposite wall.

Removing the tile, fairly easy job with just a snow shovel.

Here is where Jeffery cut off the water and welded new copper to where the elbow joints were.

That pipe on the opposite wall is all gone.

Some real demolition progress.

Starting now all photos were taken with my new phone, as the camera is really good quality, and doesn't require me to go grab my giant camera and a lens. I can just whip it out of my pocket.

Okay, before he can finish demolishing under the stairs we need wood to hold up the stairs and to replace the old stuff.

My dorky husband posing for a picture :)

After debating what to do with the stairs, we decided to just replace the ones going up from the basement to the front door landing.

The people at Lowes have started to recognize us and ask how the project is going.

Wood under the stairs replaced and that bathroom is gone.

We decided to redo the ceiling so we could do some better lighting and because it was that outdated popcorn texture.

Spent a few days hauling my pregnant butt up a ladder to get to the living area of the house.

Here's where he decides he doesn't want to put in a bathroom. Then there's some ideas tossed back and forth on how to use the space. We decided to put in a wet bar. So we went to Lowes again and looked at some cupboards and decided on what we wanted. The next day we had to grab some stuff and found the exact sink base cupboard that we wanted but for $25 instead of $200. I'd say that's a win for us.

Here are the new stairs, almost finished and he's installing a new electrical box for the switch. He replaced the single light bulb in the furnace room with one of the florescent lights removed from the computer room.

Starting the process of wiring the basement up.

More wiring, wiring took a little while because we added so many can lights. We also ran our HDMI cable from where the projector will hang to where our other electronics will be going, and CAT 5 (high speed internet) cable from the electrical box where the modem and router will be going, to where our computers will be.

Some of the lights were briefly installed in the cans to test the electrical work.

Insulation added in between the joists.

Wet bar wired up and plumbing for the sink installed.

Lights in the theater area.

Here you can see where power is going to the projector and the HDMI cable.

This is where we fished the HDMI to come out through the wall.

CAT 5 and power to the computers.

Now we start to drywall.

Jeffery rented a drywall lift and got all the drywall up on the ceiling.

We got these lights for by the bar on clearance at Lowes,

More drywall.

I don't have a picture yet of all the drywall up but we are now in the process of mudding. I'll post another update once all is finished. But here's the project thus far.

Thanks for stopping by!
