Hi there!
Jeffery and I were laying in bed a couple weeks ago and we were talking about things that need to be done around the house. I was getting sick of all the half done projects. Anyway, we chatted a bit and decided to finish everything we had started. This post is going to be all over the place so buckle in and enjoy the ride.
Let's start off with finishing the sewing room. It was almost done. I had all the nail holes filled and ready to be sanded for a long time. I was just too lazy (read: busy with other things) to finish sanding and Jeffery refused to do it.
He did however put the tape around everything so I could paint... because... anything that needs to be straight is not something I can do very well.

The view of my nicely sanded wood filler.
First coat of paint.. Aside from the shine you would never know it was painted. That is what I was going for, as I really liked the color the trim came in.
Window isn't painted yet. Jeffery was busy with wood filler inside the casing so that didn't get primed and painted until the next day. Here is a video of me painting. 10 points if you know what song/who's singing in the background. (Aurelia you are not allow to guess. I know you know.)
On to the Fourth of July. We spent the day geocaching with our good friend David. (Featured many times in this blog.) Before heading home I mentioned that I had never lit fireworks before, so the guys made it their mission to give me a good show in the backyard.
Then we got out the sparklers and did some light painting.
Fast forward two or three days. We went to Nebraska Furniture Mart.. and we found an amazing deal on Canon printers so we bought the whole lot and resold them on Amazon. So we used some of that money to buy a table from their clearance warehouse for my sewing room. (And some went to a GoPro)
Finished room (Except doorknobs)
And just in case you all forgot (or just started following) this is what the room looked like previously.
(Note the nasty tile now in the basement. Jeffery ripped all the carpet out while I was in Maine last.)
Okay.. what we did this weekend. Well.. first.. we went to an estate auction. Then we decided it was time to finish the kitchen. The first decision was how to finish the edges of the countertop. Jeffery came up with the idea to put stainless steel trim around it. We took a trip to Home Depot and found exactly what we were looking for, but they were in rough shape. Jeffery got some sand paper and began to sand with the grain. But then he thought, wait, what if I use the circular sander, what kind of pattern would that leave?
Well, we actually ended up loving the result. It looked like brushed aluminum. He sanded them and then sprayed clear acrylic over the top of them. Meanwhile I painted the remaining cupboard doors.
Jeffery used some clamps to set the glue holding the strips and left them for 24 hours.
Then together we added the rest of the doors.
Now he needs to make me a drawer and figure out how to attach the piece to the left of the dishwasher. (Also don't judge the fact that I forgot to clean the dishwasher when I cleaned the kitchen. Zevran likes to lick it.. because he's a weirdo.)
I need your opinion. Should we leave the doors above the microwave as is, or add the knobs? I'm on the fence.
Next I need to paint the back wall, tear out the linoleum, and then we have to lay our tiles.
I immediately fell in love with these. We bought a box, brought them home and laid them down on the floor. I was still in love. The next morning I had a crisis and had to compare the tile with the counter top to make sure it was still the stuff I wanted.
I'm too excited about having a place for this trash can.
And mom bought me a Keurig.
So, what's left for unfinished projects? Well.. we need to add a deck to the backyard, landscape the front yard, paint the outside trim, and then finish the basement. But we're getting there. We are getting there.
Anytime I feel like we've gotten nowhere I take a look at this blog.
Thanks for stopping by! -Em
P.S. I've already started a wish list for the house we're going to build when we move home to Maine. I think my husband might hang himself.
You two are amazing! I would leave handles off the doors above the microwave -- a matter of taste, though!
